Two 14-year-old teens arrested for making online threats – Keeping Kids Safe Online

Two 14-year-old Texas teens have been arrested for making threats against another student through a social media outlet.  The teens have been charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a third-degree felony.

The 14-year-old teens made a combination of threats in-person and via online communication and alluded to harming other kids.

Lesson for Teens:  It doesn’t matter if you meant it or not, making online threats is never acceptable.  One decision, can truly change your life in a negative way.

Message for Parents:  Along with monitoring your child’s online interactions, it is imperative to have the conversation about consequences.  Share stories like this one with your child, discuss expectations, and most of all the importance of being accountable for their online actions.
